A Community Children's Theater

In 2006, the Foundation for Promoting Arts Education Board of Directors unanimously agreed to launch a capital campaign for a school building project. The campaign is designed in two primary phases: 1) Redding School of the Arts and 2) The North State Children's Theater Project.

The school facility is under construction and will be ready for occupancy in fall of 2011 (graciously funded by The McConnell Foundation). It is the goal of the McConnell foundation to have this school meet LEED platinum sustainability certifications – the highest rating given by Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. The location of this property will allow RSA the opportunity to build a LEED certified 800 seat North State Children's Theater as Phase 2 of the overall building project.

With the programming and conceptual design completed, FPAE will commence construction of the North State Children's Theater in 2012 with the theater ready for its grand opening in fall 2014.

The construction of a LEED Platinum certified theater in the progressive eco-conscious Northern California region of Shast County will serve as a shining example of both FPAE's commitment to community arts education and the future of green-based construction in the North State.
